Inside A new dialogue between heritage and design on Italy's lake
Edging the western shores of Lake Como, The Lake Como EDITION is set to open in 2025, bringing the refined design sensibility of Ian Schrager to a storied Italian retreat. Housed in a restored 19th‑century villa in Cadenabbia, the property will feature 148 rooms where greenery‑draped façades meet minimalist interiors—a blend of historic architectural character and contemporary calm.
Here, mornings might begin with a lakeside walk before breakfast in the garden lounge, followed by meals that echo local produce with a global mindset. Public spaces will remain understated, allowing the ambient landscape to take centre stage. The emphasis on quiet presence is reinforced by warm materials, muted palettes, and subtle light—echoing the slow pace of Lake Como’s early days.
The EDITION brand promises indulgence without spectacle and here, amid villas and olive trees, that promise becomes something tangible: Italy’s lacustric calm meets discreet modernity. This is not just a new hotel—it is a continuation of place, softly reimagined.
